UNICEF aid to flood-affected areas reaches 250,000 children

UNICEF has recently supported the National Center for Disease Control to purchase 250,000 doses of polio vaccines, along with 20,000 rubella and 10,000 vitamin A supplements.

In addition, the organization has contributed to delivering 520,000 liters of safe drinking water and providing spare parts for the water and sanitation network, which enabled the restoration of 4 non-working wells in the city of Derna.

UNICEF’s “Safe Water” campaign has reached more than 306 individuals in the affected areas. The organization has also deployed 12 teams in the affected areas, supporting 2,453 children with psychological and social support, including psychological first aid and recreational activities.

UNICEF has begun maintaining 11 schools in Al-Bayda and Shahat to enable children to return to school. The organization aims to reach 13,000 children and support them with educational materials. UNICEF has also provided a school kit for 8,000 children.
