The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) held last Friday in Tunisia a Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration (DDR) Working Group meeting with the active participation of key Libyan officials from eastern and western regions.
UNSMIL said on “X” platform that the meeting provided a platform for a coherent international community approach to supporting relevant Libyan institutions to contribute to DDR and broadly to social cohesion, as well as peace and stability for Libya and the region.
“The meeting, attended by the UN Country Team, member states, and INGOs, identified important recommendations, including engaging community leaders in conflict prevention, mediation, and de-militarizing residential areas.” UNSMIL said.
