The US ambassador and special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland said he was impressed by voting preparations during his visit to an example polling station with the Head of the High National Elections Commission, Emad Al-Sayeh, and the Regional Director of International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Daniel Rubinstein.
The US embassy in Libya said on Twitter that technical assistance to the High National Elections Commission through USAID will support free and fair elections that reflect the will of voters.
Norland also sadded that as the polling station is in a school, he was fortunate to meet children participating in a civic education program, also sponsored by USAID.
“The children represent Libya’s future; and as a parent I shared my deepest hope that their futures may be peaceful and bright.” Norland added.
