US ambassador, Libya’s Defense Minister confirm progress in reopening coastal road

The US embassy in Libya said ambassador, Richard Norland, and the US Defense Attaché as well as the Libyan Defense Minister, Salah Al-Namroush, have confirmed that progress is being made on reopening the coastal road, as called for by the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.

These remarks came in a call Wednesday by Norland with the Libyan Minister of Defense, who also reaffirmed the need for avoiding a shutdown on exports from some oil terminals as a result of salary issues involving Petroleum Facilities Guard members.

The US embassy added that ambassador Norland congratulated Al-Namroush and all Libyans on the progress made in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva toward naming a new interim executive authority in the coming days.
