US Pentagon: Turkey’s counter-Russia roles in Libya, Syria are pivotal

The Commander of the Untied States’ European Command (EUCOM) Tod Wolters has hailed the role of Turkey as very pivotal to confront the Russian clout in the Middle East.

Wolters told the US Congress session of military affairs’ commission on Tuesday that the conflict between Moscow and Ankara in Libya is still ongoing, mentioning that they are still in direct military confrontation in Syria.

He also called for cooperation with Turkey in this regard via NATO or through US-Turkey bilateral relations.

Wolters added that the long-term interests for both Washington and Ankara will improve via joint work on counter-Russia matters in the region.
