US set to reopen embassy in Libyan capital

The Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, met with a delegation from the United States (US) tasked with discussing the reopening of US embassy in Tripoli.

The delegation included US Undersecretary of State for Administrative Affairs John Bass, ambassador Richard Norland, and assistant secretary of diplomatic security, Gentry Smith.

During the meeting, the US delegation gave Al-Mangoush a message from her American counterpart Antony Blinken on boosting bilateral relations.

The Libyan FM hailed the positive step of reopening the embassy in Tripoli after joint efforts to facilitate the movement of both countries’ citizens, reiterating support for the success of the delegation’s mission in Libya.

The American delegation congratulated Al-Mangoush on being rewarded with Courageous Woman award for 2022 by the US State Department, renewing Washington’s support for the Libyan political track.
