The US Secretary of State’s Spokesman Ned Price has told Libya Alahrar TV that the High Council of State and House of Representatives should play a role in holding elections because it’s not an issue for the Government of National Unity alone.
Ned Price also said that it’s important that political leaders work to set a date for holding elections as soon as possible.
He reiterated the US support for the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya in urging Libyans parties to work in good faith to agree on a consensual constitutional framework and a timeline for elections.
“Elections are the only way for the Government of National Unity to govern and provide services to all Libyans.” Price added.
