35 bodies found in a landfill in Libya’s Tarhouna

The Libyan General Authority for Identification of the Missing said 35 bodies had been found in seven different locations at the public landfill in Tarhouna city.

The Authority confirmed that the bodies were discovered in five mass graves and two separate ones, adding that over 245 fields had been combed thoroughly in the city.

Relatedly, the UN Fact-Finding Mission in Libya confirmed this month that it had collected evidence of mass graves of civilians in Tarhouna from 2016 to 2020, calling for its mandate in Libya to be extended so it could conduct investigations into the crimes and violations.
