The Libyan Foreign Ministry has welcomed the announcement by Sudan that it has caught 122 Sudanese armed nationals who were heading to Libya to fight as mercenaries.
The Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) hailed Monday Sudan’s rejection of the attempts to recruit its nationals to fight in the Libyan conflict.
The GNA’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the endeavors of several countries, especially the UAE, to use the humanitarian situation of the Sudanese people to recruit to fight in the Libyan conflict.
In the meantime, the spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan Jamal Jumua said a joint security force managed to arrest 122 persons, including eight children, heading to work as mercenary fighters in Libya.
Jumua said Sunday, according to the Sudanese news agency, that the arrest operation came after the security force had received credible information about a number of Sudanese nationals being recruited to work as mercenary fighters in Libya.
The spokesman for the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan added that all Sudanese mercenary fighters who are fighting in Libya are after money and nothing else.
Many reports by local, international medial and the UN have revealed that as many as thousands of Sudanese Janjaweed fighters have been sent to fight for Khalifa Haftar’s militias since the start of their war on Tripoli in April 2019.
