After killing of “Al-Bija”, officials call for investigation

The commander of the Naval Academy, Abdul Rahman Milad, also known as “Al-Bija”, was killed after his car was targeted by gunmen in Sayyad area, west of Janzour, Tripoli, while a source from the Emergency Medical Service in Al-Zawiya confirmed to Libya Al-Ahrar that Al-Bija’s killing was when three cars targeted his convoy after he had left the headquarters of the Naval Academy in Sayyad.

Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, mourned Al-Bija stressing that he had assigned the Ministry of Interior and the relevant authorities to open an urgent investigation into the incident.

Dbeibah said that he had followed the details of what he described as the heinous killing of Al-Bija, adding that the latter had made efforts to rehabilitate the Naval Academy and graduate new batches after a hiatus that lasted more than a decade, in addition to his efforts to reconcile in his city: Al-Zawiya.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, also mourned Al-Bija, stressing that those involved in his killing wouldn’t escape punishment. Al-Lafi said that Milad was keen to resume the duties of the Naval Academy to be an assistance to the state’s defense institutions.

Likewise, Khalid Al-Mishri mourned Milad, praising his role in ending the differences and calming the situation in Al-Zawiya, and called on the Attorney General and the concerned authorities to reveal those involved in the incident and bring them to justice.
