The Libyan Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, has indicated in a press conference that the civil Registry Authority’s system has shown that the number of Libyans is 8.370.000 – 1.733.000 families.
The Attorney General added on Wednesday that there had been some violations registered in the Civil Registry including the forgery of 40.000 National Identification Numbers that had been given to non-Libyans.
Al-Sour added that there are also about 64.000 National Identification Numbers that exist in the system of the ID but not in the Civil Registry’s system.
He also said that his office had decided to appoint committees from the Civil Registry Authority to be chaired by an Attorney General’s Office member with the task of comparing the system’s data with the paperwork files.
