The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has welcomed the Security Council decision to extend the mandate of UNSMIL for one year, saying the call of the Security Council to hold elections in Libya on a constitutional basis reaffirmed the fact that the current executive authority is an integral part of the last transitional phase in Libya.
Dbeibah called on the parties that are hindering the holding of elections to own to their commitments, urging the international community to respect the Security Council resolutions pertaining to the sovereignty and unity of Libya.
Likewise, the Prime Minister designated by the House of Representatives (HoR) Fathi Bashagha has welcomed the Security Council decision to extend the mandate of UNSMIL for one year and the call for holding elections under a unified government.
