Egyptian-Turkish discussions regarding Libya during Fidan’s visit to Egypt

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan concluded a two-day visit to Egypt, which aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between Turkey and Egypt. The visit is scheduled to be followed by a visit by Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Turkey soon.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati stressed during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart that “the success of Egypt and Turkey in achieving security and stability in Libya is a model to be emulated for resolving disputes in the region.”

Abdel Aati confirmed that there is complete agreement with his Turkish counterpart to hold elections in Libya as soon as possible.

For his part, Fidan indicated that the region is witnessing difficult circumstances, reiterating his country’s support for the unity and stability of Libya and for holding elections.

During his visit, Fidan met with Sisi in the City of El Alamein, located between Alexandria and the Libyan borders, where he also met separately with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
