The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) affirmed its position in support of a Libyan political solution in line with Security Council resolutions.
In the final statement of the 159th session of the Ministerial Council in Riyadh, the Council renewed its support of the Libyan people for achieving security, stability and development, and for ensuring its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
In its statement, the Council urged the need to stop foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs, withdraw all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libyan territory, support United Nations efforts to reach a political solution, hold elections and unify state institutions, to achieve what Libyans aspire to.
The Ministerial Council also called on all parties to adopt political dialogue to resolve differences in a way that preserves Libya’s highest interests, affirming the position of the GCC states in support of the state of Libya and the political track.
