GNA’s media director arrested for banning state-owned channels from condemning Haftar’s war on Tripoli

The newly-appointed Director of Libyan Media Foundation – appointed by the Head of the Presidenmtial Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez Al-Sarraj – Mohammed Baayo, was arrested by Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation forces in Tripoli over his orders to state-owned TV channels to name warlord Khalifa Haftar’s offensive on Tripoli as a civil war.

Baayo also ordered, in a statement to the state-owned TV channels on Tuesday, to stop using the adjective “criminal or war criminal” to describe warlord Haftar, which sparked outrage among many Libyan politicians, activists and military officials under the GNA.

The arrest of Baayo, who was rendered a Haftar sympathizer, came from the Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade and it was hailed by many politicians and military leaders under the GNA.
