Head of Presidential Council informs UN envoy about Cairo meeting’s outcome

The UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily met  on Monday with the Head of  Presidential Council Mohammed Menfi, who informed him of the outcome of the meeting held in Cairo with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Aqila Saleh and the Head of the High Council of State, Mohammad Takala, under the auspices of the League of the Arab States.

Bathily stressed on hix X account that he had expressed his gratitude to Menfi and took note of the official statement produced at the end of the meeting, adding that they has agreed to follow up on the conclusions of the Cairo meeting.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and the Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, announced in a joint statement their agreement to form a technical committee concerned with amending the laws of the 6+6 committee to expand the basis of consensus and acceptance, as well as to resolve outstanding issues regarding controversial points.

The agreement of the three parties took place during a tripartite meeting on Sunday in Cairo at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in an effort to bring views closer and end the political impasse through a Libyan-Libyan dialogue.
