The Chairman of High National Elections Commission (HNEC)| Emad Al-Sayeh confirmed during a press conference on Sunday that the voting rate in municipal councils’ elections reached 77.2%, which was a surprising and high percentage compared to previous electoral operations, making it the highest recorded by the HNEC so far.
Al-Sayeh explained that the voting process in Al-Shweirif Municipal Council was cancelled due to a violation related to the encroachment on votes in Station No. 2.
He stressed that the HNEC did not adopt any interest in the victory of one party over another or one list over another, while he emphasized the pursuit of achieving the highest internationally recognized standards and principles in implementing the electoral process.
Al-Sayeh stressed that the principle of neutrality was the basis for the HNEC’s communication with political parties, whether in power or not, noting that the HNEC always worked to maintain its readiness for any political process.
