IOM says 7 immigrants dead, 54 others missing off the coast of Libya

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Libya announced the interception of 604 immigrants, saying they had been returned to the Libyan coast during the period from November 10 to 16.

IOM indicated that among the intercepted immigrants were 34 women and 11 children, noting that the bodies of seven immigrants were recovered while the fate of 54 others remained unknown.

‎According to IOM, 20,231 immigrants have been intercepted off the Libyan coast so far in 2024, 515 of whom died, and 830 others went missing.
