A source from the Joint Operations Force (JOF) has confirmed to Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel reaching a ceasefire agreement in Tajoura after the intervention of a number of parties that made the two warring factions go back to their barracks.
The source said on Saturday that the two warring sides had agreed to the positioning of Brigade 111’s forces led by Abdelsalam Zubi and Brigade 55’s forces to consolidate the truce.
The source also indicated that the JOF “isn’t targeting any side of the fighting”, but had to make a move after one of its barracks was attacked on Friday night.
Tajoura saw on Friday sporadic clashes that left 9 people killed and over 16 others injured, according to the Ambulance and Emergency Apparatus in Tripoli.
The University of Tripoli announced the suspension of studies, exams and administrative work in all its faculties and departments until further notice.
The Presidential Council, as the Chief Commander of the Libyan Army, issued instructions to all forces to return to their barracks immediately and to prevent any military movement without its permission.
