Libya calls for freezing membership of Israel at the UN

Libya has called for the need to take firm measures against the Israeli occupation, including freezing its membership in the United Nations and activating Chapter VII against it to protect civilians. This call came during Libyan statement before the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Fourth Committee) at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Libya reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate right to resist the occupation, stressing the need to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the provision of protection for civilians. it praised the valuable efforts made by UNRWA to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian refugees, denouncing the occupation’s attempts to obstruct its humanitarian activities within the occupied territories.

Libya also renewed its position in support of the Palestinian cause as a central issue, stressing the need to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, as a way to achieve just and lasting peace in the region.
