Missing Persons Authority continues matching more than 10 thousand samples in Derna

The Director of the Search for Remains Department at the Missing Persons Identification Authority, Lotfi Tawfiq, said that the authority was able to take more than ten thousand and five hundred samples from the families of the victims and bodies in Derna to match them through DNAs.

Tawfiq explained in a statement to Libya Al-Ahrar that all samples were transferred to the authority’s laboratories and that work is underway to match them.

Tawfiq added that more than three thousand and eight hundred bodies have been extracted so far from Derna, confirming that these bodies have been documented, photographed, shrouded with samples taken from them before they are reburied in the Al-Fatayeh Cemetery for Derna’s martyrs.
