More than 20 people go missing in the Mediterranean according to the IOM

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the loss of 23 irregular migrants who had sailed from the shores of Libya during the period from July 7 to 13 who had sailed from the shores of Libya.

According to the IOM’s weekly report, more than 880 migrants were returned to Libya from the Mediterranean, whose boats had sailed from Libya towards Europe.

The organization’s weekly report indicated that among the migrants were 40 children and 85 women of different nationalities, all of whom were returned to the shelters in Tripoli, Al-Zawiya and Sabratha.

According to the IOM, the total number of deaths since the beginning of the year until July 13 reached nearly 400 migrants plus the loss of nearly 500 others at sea, in addition to the return of more than 10,000 migrants to Libya from the Mediterranean.

The organization stated that among the migrants were about 360 children and 782 women, along with more than 9,000 men and 136 others whose identity was unknown.
