No agreement yet in UN-led talks for CBL crisis

The representative of the House of Representatives (HoR) in the UN-sponsored meeting to resolve the Central Bank of Libya’s crisis, Al-Hadi Al-Sagheer, has told Libya Al-Ahrar TV that the meeting designated for signing the agreement to end the crisis is postponed to a later time.

The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced Monday the beginning of negotiations involving representatives of the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, and the Presidential Council, to reach proposals to resolve the crisis surrounding the Central Bank, noting that “important understandings” had been achieved.

Al-Sagheer has earlier confirmed the agreement of the attendees on a mechanism to resolve the crisis of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) and to appoint a committee for a specific period to follow up on the affairs of the CBL and other procedures.

He pointed out that the agreement came after concessions that had been made by both parties, saying that for the first time, the committee could include the old and new boards of directors of the CBL.
