The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, met Saturday with the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh.
“It was encouraging to hear Al-Sayeh confirm HNEC’s readiness to conduct elections once political agreement has been reached on the way ahead”, Norland said on Twitter.
Norland added that joint HoR-HSC committee to adopt a constitutional basis, proposed by UN SASG, Stephanie Williams, represents the next practical step toward this goal, and Washington urges all sides to support this process.
