The Missing Persons Search Authority recovers bodies from demolished areas

The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced that its teams took samples from 5 unidentified bodies that were recovered from demolished buildings and seashores in the city of Derna, after they were examined by forensic medicine.

The Authority indicated that the unidentified bodies were shrouded and reburied in the Al-Fattayah cemetery in Derna after the legal aspects were met.

According to official data, more than 4,000 people were victims of the Derna floods last September, in addition to thousands of missing people whose remains are still being found.

The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced earlier that the total number of open files for missing persons in Derna had reached 2,380, while the total number of samples taken was 2,187.
