Libya’s High Council of State asks Presidential Council to cut ties with UAE

The Libyan High Council of State (HCS) has recommended the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) to sever relations and cut ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and to consider it an enemy of war.

In a statement on Tuesday, the HCS said the UAE is a direct partner in the aggression on Tripoli with the forces of Khalifa Haftar, and in particular, in the massacre of the Military College in the capital.

“We call for reassessing the relations of the state of Libya with all the countries supporting Haftar as their actions are violations of the Libyan Political Agreement.” The HCS added.

In the meantime, the HCS said the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) had deviated from its role in Libya by organizing economic forums without consulting with state authorities in Libya or inviting them.

“This means that the UNSMIL has turned from an assistant to Libyans to build their state into an administrator at the state of Libya!” The HCS remarked.
