The President of the High Council of State (HCS) Mohamed Takala met with Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, on Wednesday.
The meeting came during Takala’s first visit to Turkey as head of the HCS, following an official invitation from the Turkish Republic. The meeting with Turkey’s head of diplomacy was held in the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Ankara.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed regional and local political affairs including the latest political developments in Libya regarding the efforts to hold elections. Takala and Fidan discussed ways to develop cooperation and bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of the two countries.
Right before his trip to Turkey, Takala had hosted on Tuesday the French President’s special envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, accompanied by the French Ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Maharaj. The HCS President discussed with the French delegation the current political events in Libya, and the developments concerning elections and national reconciliation, touching on the efforts made by the Council in this regard. Similarly, Takala discussed with the French side means to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation.
Earlier this month, Mohamed Takala was elected as the third President of the HCS, succeeding Khalid Meshry who had led the Council for five years.
