Sources have told Libya Al-Ahrar TV that the tripartite meeting of the Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Mohammed Menfi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh, and the Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Mohammed Takala, will be held in Egypt instead of Morocco.
The Member of the HCS, Suad Ertima, told Libya Al-Ahrar that the tripartite meeting was going to be held last Saturday in Morocco, not Cairo, saying that the reason for the postponement was that the Deputy Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Stephanie Koury was busy with her briefing for the UN during the same period, in addition to an Egyptian desire to hold the meeting in Cairo instead of Morocco.
In the meantime, Africa Intelligence said that the meeting would be held under the auspices of the Arab League and under the mediation of the Head of Egyptian Intelligence, Abbas Kamel.
It said it would be held in Cairo on June 27. It revealed that an expected visit by by the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdul Hamid Dbeiah to Cairo could happen on July 04.
This upcoming tripartite meeting is a second round of negotiations after the first one in the Egyptian capital. The first was last March.
Africa Intelligence confirms that the goal behind the meeting is to unify Libyan institutions and establish mechanisms that will lead the country to the long-awaited general elections.
