Al-Kabir visits Washington and discusses the Libyan economy

The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Sidiq Al-Kabir, discussed with the Atlantic Council on Monday, the latest developments in the Libyan economic and political situation.

The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Atlantic Council in the American capital – Washington – discussed support for the National Oil Corporation to maintain and increase oil production rates, and to work in coordination with the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives to approve a unified budget for the Libyan state.

Al-Kabeer also presented the bank’s vision and policies in facing challenges to maintain the financial sustainability of the Libyan state.

The Governor is visiting Washington this week to participate in the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund, which discusses the state of the global economy and looks into helping countries combat climate change and other global topics.

Central bank governors participate in these meetings, along with finance and development ministers, academics and representatives of the private sector and civil society.
