FM Al-Mangoush: Libya looks forward to seeing a positive Arab League role

The Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush reaffirmed her commitment to implementing comprehensive elections that end the transitional stages that opened the door for incomplete political solutions and competition of foreign powers.

Al-Mangoush added in her speech at the Arab League Council on Wednesday at the level of foreign ministers, that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah called for increasing the level of coordination with the United Nations in the field of technical and logistical support for holding elections.

She also expressed Libya’s aspiration to see a positive role from all Arab countries to contribute to Libya’s permanent stability and unity, noting that there is no alternative to dialogue and a peaceful political process in managing internal disputes and crises. She reiterated Libya’s insistence on upholding its right to receive the rotating presidency of the Arab League Council is to intensify communication and present the Libyan issue in international, African and regional forums.

Al-Mangoush thanked the countries that supported Libya in exercising all the requirements and rights of its full membership, just like the rest of the Arab League countries. She called on the Arab League to work as an institutional framework that deals with members equally and fairly and does not differentiate among them based on political positions or diminish the value of some of them by dividing them into major and minor countries.

The Libyan FM said that upholding the interest of joint national security and constructive cooperation instead of unilaterally interfering in the affairs of the countries is the best way to end Arab problems.
