The pilot who worked for Khalifa Haftar’s forces, Amer Al-Jagam, arrived in Benghazi Monday afternoon as part of war prisoners’ exchange deal between the eastern and western regions.
The Head of Central Al-Zawiya Council of Elders and Dignitaries, Emhamed Khamaj, confirmed the release of the pilot as part of a prisoners’ exchange agreement that included 15 anti-Haftar detainees imprisoned in the jails of the eastern region.
Hours after his release, Al-Jagam met with Haftar and was promoted to lieutenant general.
