The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, discussed with the Congolese President and Chairman of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, Denis Sassou Nguesso, developments in the national reconciliation file.
The meeting, which was held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, reviewed activating the role of the African Union in the course of the reconciliation process to ensure the achievement of comprehensive national reconciliation under the supervision of the African Union and in cooperation with the Presidential Council.
The meeting came on the sidelines of Menfi’s participation in the sixth semi-annual meeting of the African Union, the regional economic communities and the African regional mechanisms in Accra.
A statement by Menfi’s media office said Congo-Brazzaville looked forward to holding a national reconciliation conference, as its President continued to send his envoys to Libyan parties in order to continue the national reconciliation process in support of the political process sponsored by the United Nations.
The conference for national reconciliation, which was scheduled to be hosted by the city of Sirte on April 28, was postponed due to the withdrawal of representatives of Khalifa Haftar and a number of supporters of the Gaddafi regime from the preparatory committee of the conference.
