Italy appoints Benghazi consul

Italy has appointed Carlo Batori as a consul at the Italian consulate in Benghazi, the Italian Foreign Ministry has announced.

The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi di Maio, told the House of Representatives that diplomat, Carlo Batori, would assume office as Italian consul in Benghazi on May 26.

According to AKI news agency, di Maio said measures were underway to open an Italian trade office in Tripoli, in addition to gradually reviving work at the Italian cultural institute in the Libyan capital.
