The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, has reiterated Libya’s unwavering commitment and strong support for the Palestinian people in their resistance of the Israeli occupation.
Menfi said in his speech at the Arab Summit in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Thursday, that Libya once again condemned the brutal aggression against the people of Gaza in particular and Palestine in general.
He added that Libya had joined the case submitted by South Africa with the International Court of Justice against the crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinians.
In its final statement, the Arab League called for “international protection and peacekeeping forces of the United Nations in the occupied Palestinian territories” until a two-state solution is implemented.
It also adopted calls by host Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas to “convene an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations, to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution”.
