Libya, Türkiye review bolstering trade cooperation

The Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammed Al-Huweij, has discussed – in a meeting on the sidelines of the Türkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum – with the Turkish counterpart, Ömer Bolat, boosting economic and trade relations between Tripoli and Ankara.

The two Ministers also reviewed the challenges facing Libyan businesspeople in Türkiye and finding suitable solutions, as the Turkish side reiterated agreement on removing customs tariffs on Libyan commodities by signing a deal on freeing trade and preventing double taxes.

Bolat also said he would talk to the Governor of the Central Bank of Türkiye to exempt Libyan companies from paying taxes.

Meanwhile, Al-Huweij urged Turkish companies to resume their work in Libya, calling on the Turkish businesspeople to invest in the Libyan market.
