Norland stresses to Presidential Council deputy need to hold Libya’s elections on time

The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, spoke from London on Friday with the Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Moussa Al-Koni, reaffirming the importance of the Presidential Council in Libya’s evolving political structures.

The US embassy said in a statement that Norland appreciated Al-Koni’s confirmation of strong public support among Libyans for holding national elections without delay on December 24. 

They also discussed events in Chad, which underline the urgency of bringing Libya’s military elements together into one structure that can control the nation’s borders and safeguard Libyan sovereignty.
