Nova: 47.000 immigrants have departed from Libya toward Italy so far in 2023

The Italian Interior Ministry said the total number of illegal immigrants who had crossed the Libyan coast to Italy since the beginning of 2023 reached 47.000, according to Italian Nova News Agency.

Nova reported the Interior Ministry on Tuesday as saying that about 30.000 illegal immigrants who arrived in Italy through Libya had set off from the western coast, while more than 16.000 others set sail from eastern shores in Libya.

Nova reported that 13.611 illegal immigrants had been intercepted since the beginning of 2023. 10.352 of the immigrants were men, 943 women, and 494 minors. It also said that no gender information was available for 2.443 people.
