Pilot killed as MIG21 fighter jet crashes during Haftar’s military parade

A MIG 21 warplane crashed Saturday as it was carrying out a ceremonial mission for warlord Khalifa Haftar so-called Operation Dignity’s seventh anniversary in Benina – Benghazi, killing the pilot Jamal bin Amer, sources from the parade have confirmed to Libya Alahrar TV.

Despite the crash and the death of the pilot, the anniversary ceremony went on normally and Haftar as well as his militias’ commanders didn’t even mention the incident or offer condolences to the pilot’s family in their speeches.

Haftar attended his self-styled army parade with his military leaderships; as he boldly announced that his war on Tripoli in 2019 was the right decision and urged the Government of National Unity to compensate people for the damage his forces did to the capital and its southern parts.

Before the ceremony, Haftar invited the Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah and the Head of Presidential Council Mohammed Menfi to attend his military parade, but both had evaded the procession by traveling on visits to Algeria and Tunisia respectively.
