Qatar urges Human Rights Council to stand by disaster-stricken areas in Libya

The Permanent Representative of Qatar, Hind Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, called on the Human Rights Council in Geneva to observe a minute of silence for the victims of floods and torrents in the disaster-stricken areas of the Eastern Region.

In a statement delivered before the Council at its 54th session, the representative said that the situation in Libya and Arab countries calls on the Council to pay attention to the common human conscience to stand by peoples who are exposed to humanitarian crises and disasters.

Qatar has confirmed its support for Libya in this critical humanitarian situation, especially in these difficult times that require everyone’s cooperation and solidarity.

The United Nations Security Council observed a minute of silence in latest session, mourning the souls of those who died as a result of floods and torrents caused by the Storm Daniel.
