The Speaker of the Libyan Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, called Friday on the HoR members to convene a session to grant the Government of National Unity of Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah confidence on March 08 in Sirte if the 5+5 Joint Military Commission agreed to secure the session.
Saleh said if the 5+5 Joint Military Commission rejected and Sirte wasn’t ready to host the HoR session, then the session shall be held in Tobruk in eastern Libya.
He also reiterated that the 5+5 Joint Military Commission should respond in an official manner to the task asked to it before March 08, adding that Tobruk would be ready to host HoR members for the session to endorse Dbeibah’s government.
In a press conference with the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, Saleh said the UN had set the mechanism for granting confidence to the Government of National Unity and that the HoR would be able to carry the vote on that matter freely, saying he prefers to see a government of technocrats at this point.
Dbeibah presented his cabinet to the HoR Speaker on Thursday and promised in a press conference in Tripoli to prioritize services to people, economic and political reforms and national reconciliation.
