The President of the High Council of State (HCS) Mohamed Takala met on Monday the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya.
The meeting between Takala and the British Ambassador, Caroline Hurndall, was held at the headquarters of the HCS in the country’s capital Tripoli. The press office of the HCS clarified that the two sides addressed the issues of anticipated elections in Libya. Moreover, the UK diplomat discussed with the head of the HCS what steps have been taken so far in this regard to arrange elections.
Furthermore, the meeting included discussions concerning the efforts made to achieve national reconciliation and stability in Libya and the means of developing joint cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier this week, the head of the HCS had met with the Deputy President of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Allafi, where the arrangements for holding elections and driving forward national reconciliation were discussed, as the two Councils sought to coordinate their efforts together.
The discussions on elections and national reconciliation also touched on the current political and security situation, especially in regard to the recent events in the capital this month.
