Attorney General Siddiq Al-Sour has underscored the necessity of implementing an electronic system devoid of any breaches concerning civil status data. He also called for the establishment of regulations that clearly outline duties and responsibilities.
During a meeting with government officials, Al-Sour discussed the developments in civil status cases and the auditing of residence, transfer, and subscription records. He stressed that it is imperative to ensure the accuracy of civil status data and comprehend the repercussions of any violations of people’s economic and social rights.
Al-Sour also proposed linking the databases of the Passports and Nationality Authority and the Civil Status Authority with the Public Prosecution Authority’s database. This integration would expedite data verification processes, aligning them with the requirements of criminal investigation operations.
The Attorney General held a review session with the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and heads of various authorities including Civil Status, Passports and Nationality, and Foreign Affairs. They discussed a plan to scrutinize data, conditions and the procedures for naturalization of foreigners.
The Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs revealed that they have received recommendations from the Public Prosecution Authority. These recommendations pertain to supporting the reorganization of the citizenship database and purging it of any contradictory data.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Holding Telecommunications Company confirmed that telecommunications service companies are gearing up to implement an interconnection plan. This plan is set to be executed within specified dates as per directives from the Attorney General’s office.
