The largest ship to enter Libyan ports docked in Misrata

The Misrata Free Zone Port announced the docking of the ship “Flora,” belonging to the shipping agent Al Marsa Company, the largest operator of transit operations (transit trade) in Libyan ports.

The free zone said in a statement that the ship is coming from the port of “Jebel Ali – Dubai” in the United Arab Emirates, is 300 meters long and 40 meters wide, and has the largest draft entering the port of the free zone which is more than 12.5 meters deep.

The statement explained that the ship had 5,250 TEUs on board, including 4,481 transit containers. The free zone indicated that the ship would be headed to the ports of Hamburg and Hankinsbüttel in Germany, Naples in Italy, Santos in Brazil and Damietta in Egypt.

This is the first time in several years, a commercial container ship with a load exceeding 3,000 containers entered Libyan ports with a draft exceeding 12.5 meters.
