5,000 anonymous samples from Derna victims were transferred as a “first batch” to Tripoli

The Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons announced receiving 5,000 unidentified samples from victims of the Derna tragedy as a “first batch” at its headquarters in Tripoli.

The authority added in a statement that samples were taken from the bodies that were found inside the demolished buildings, at the sea and in the cemeteries of Al-Dhahr Al-Hamar and Martouba.

The Authority also announced that the teams responsible for managing the family registry were able to open 2,143 files and took 1,756 DNA samples from the families of missing persons.
