The head of the Supreme Council of the Amazigh of Libya, Al-Hadi Barqiq, criticized the statements of the Acting Interior Minister, Emad Trabelsi, regarding the security tensions witnessed at the Ras Jdir border crossing with Tunisia.
Barqiq attacked the Acting Minister of Interior, describing his actions as lacking in professionalism and integrity, considering that he was not qualified to assume the duties of the ministry.
Barqiq added that the sharp political division the country is witnessing and the existence of two governments, in addition to the lack of consensus on a unified constitution, makes any proposed change unacceptable.
The Ras Jdir crossing witnessed armed clashes earlier this week, immediately after the arrival of forces from the Law Enforcement Department to the crossing, as the security forces that had previously secured the crossing refused their presence.
The Ministry of Interior pointed the finger at what it described as “outlaw groups” for opening fire on members of the Law Enforcement Department, announcing the closure of the crossing until further notice.
