The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the decision of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) to withdraw the vote of confidence given to the National Unity Government will not contribute to the stability and transition process of Libya.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reiterated that it is important that the Government of National Unity remains at work with full authority until elections – slated for December 24, as foreseen in the road map of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
“Remaining in office will allow the government to organize elections on the set date to manage the transition process well and to preserve the stability environment in the country.” The Foreign Ministry said.
The spokesman for the HoR, Abdullah Blehiq, said Tuesday that the withdrawal vote was passed by majority of 89 members out of 113 attending the session, a revelation that proved the vote to be illegal, according to both MPs and politicians.
Hours after the withdrawal of confidence in the GNU by the HoR, Dbeibah said the Libyan people are the ones responsible for choosing their leadership and legitimate government at the polls, adding that his government is working on rescuing the country from wars and leading it to unity.
