The spokesman for the Sirte-Jufra Operations Room Abdelhadi Drah has confirmed that an uneasy calm is prevailing in Sirte after the heavy clashes of Monday.
Drah told Libya Alahrar that the Libyan Army forces under the command of the Government of National Accord (GNA) had reinforced their positions on the outskirts of Sirte waiting for orders from the command to advance on the city center.
In the meantime, Drah said the UAE drones supporting Khalifa Haftar had carried out airstrikes on Jarif, killing a whole family of seven and destroyed a number of people’s properties.
Now, the LKibyan Army forces under the command of the GNA are just few kilometres away from Sirte city center and the liberation from Haftar’s militias is looming.
On June 06, the Libyan Army launched the operation to free Sirte and Jufra from Haftar’s militias just hours after retaking Tarhouna, Bani Walid and Al-Wishka.
