Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar discussed in a meeting on Tuesday with the ambassadors of the United States to Tunisia and Libya, Joey Hood and Richard Norland, the political situation in Libya.
The American side commended Tunisia’s political efforts which had included hosting several meetings between Libyan political actors and encouraging and supporting dialogue between various parties.
The Tunisian and American diplomats agreed on the need for collaboration in regard to regional and international issues of common interest.
Tunisia’s Foreign Minister further affirmed his country’s position concerning the need for a solution to the Libyan political crisis to be based on a Libyan consensus, ownership and leadership with UN support.
Last Monday, the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, had also discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, the developments of the political situation in Libya.
