The Acting Interior Minister, Emad Trabelsi, assured the ministry’s intention to control the Ras Ijdir border crossing.
Trabelsi added during his meeting with officials in the Ministry of Interior that they are awaiting the decisions of the higher authorities on the issue, stressing that this is a national case and has nothing to do with any city or tribe.
Trabelsi said that the attack on police officers at the crossing was a criminal act that aimed to continue smuggling operations, expressing his disappointment at what he described as “the positions of some people in supporting what happened.”
The Minister claimed that their goal is to achieve security, enforce the law, and combat smuggling.
