5+5 Joint Military Committee Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Gaza and Calls for Stability in Libya

The 5+5 Joint Military Committee has called on all parties to assume responsibility and find a political solution to the current situation, which directly affects the security situation in Libya.

The Military Committee has also urged all parties to adhere to the ceasefire and not to carry out any actions that would destabilize the situation in the country. The Committee indicated the need to rearrange its work priorities and focus on supporting the subcommittees concerned with sustaining the ceasefire. These recommendations came following a meeting held by the Committee in Tunisia, during which it presented the steps it took after the Geneva Ceasefire Agreement.

In a separate context, the Committee has expressed its condemnation of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people. The committee’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression in Gaza underscores its cognizance of regional dynamics and its support for regional stability.

The 5+5 Joint Military Committee signed a ceasefire agreement in October 2020, paving the way for the Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva, which resulted in the formation of the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity.
